About the Author
Barbara Hosbach, writer, speaker, and workshop facilitator, admits that detours, false starts and dormant periods have been part of her spiritual journey. The Catholic faith of her childhood took a back seat while she earned a degree in Psychology and pursued a career with a social service agency. A growing sense of her own helplessness in the light of circumstances beyond her control – including injuries sustained in a car crash and a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis – brought Barbara to her spiritual knees. When she sought God with all her heart, she found Him waiting for her. Her spiritual path eventually brought Barbara back to the Catholic faith.
Barbara began to see God’s hand guiding and sustaining her as she coped with the ups and downs of life. She discovered joys not dependent on happy circumstances: seeing painful times bear fruit as she shared with others the support so freely given to her; experiencing God’s loving acceptance of her fumbling attempts to follow His will; realizing the journey we are all on doesn’t end this side of Heaven.
Although she loved writing since learning to put pencil to paper, Barbara set aside her dream of authorship for many years. During a chance conversation with a stranger several years ago, Barbara made a commitment to actively pursue writing. A member of the Catholic Writers Guild and co-chair of it’s Central Jersey Chapter, Barbara’s work has appeared in national publications such as St. Anthony Messenger, the Liguorian, and My Daily Visitor. Her first book, Fools, Liars, Cheaters, and Other Bible Heroes, explores a diverse group of biblical characters who responded to God’s call. Barbara’s latest book, Your Faith Has Made You Well: Jesus Heals in the New Testament, takes a look at what happened when Jesus healed and what it means for us today.
Barbara is a speaker and also facilitates workshops, days of reflection, and mini-retreats for parish and other groups. Please contact Barbara at email@example.com if you would like more information or would like to arrange a talk or retreat for your church, group, or club.
