Announcing the release of . . .
Fools, Liars, Cheaters and Other Bible Heroes
by Barbara Hosbach
What was it like for Leah, whose husband preferred her younger sister? How did Ananias feel when the Lord sent him to heal Paul, a known persecutor of Christians? Reading scripture brings many questions like these to my mind. I also marvel at the tremendous range of personalities and circumstances that God has chosen to work through.
Fools, Liars, Cheaters and Other Bible Heroes is my response to the questions raised in my mind while reading Scripture. Each chapter describes a different character from the Bible, their unique combination of strengths, weakness, and circumstances.
The Bible is filled with inspiring stories, but their impact is useless unless we read them. On the other hand, we may read and even admire the stories but find them intimidating or irrelevant to us personally. It is easy to say, “That’s fine for them, but I’m ________.” Sharing my own ‘what if’ wonderings throughout each chapter invites readers to identify with the characters, to ask their own questions, and to embrace their individuality as being part of God’s plan.
The intended audience is anyone seeking to explore the Bible in a more personally relevant way. This includes individuals or Bible study groups of all denominations, as well as Christians wanting to learn more about their faith.
